Day Forty-Two

My license says that I have Hazel eyes. But every time someone talks about eye colors, half say I have green eyes and the others, brown. What is a girl to do when the DMV asks what color her eyes are? My parents always said they were Hazel. I looked online and no one has a definite answer. It seems to be the focus of much debate. When I wear brown, they are brown. When I wear green, they are green. If you were faced with the decision of telling the world what color your eyes were at the risk of being argued with regularly, what would you say?

Day Forty-One

There are many aspects to AcoustiCafe:

  • The building and it's acoustics,

  • The singers' voices and choice of songs,

  • The people, who/why they attend,

  • The food,

  • and many other things...

I don't know what is required to make a 'perfect' acousticafe, but I think my attitude tonight was a contributing factor to the imperfectness of it. But YAC always tries really hard and generally does a great job with events for students!

Day Forty

We rode to sonic with people tonight for a snack. I realized, though, that my sonic card had no money and I am broke. Then I thought about my Whataburger gift card which April got me for Christmas. So we ran across a 4 lane highway (259) to get there.
Whataburger's lobby is only open until 10pm, so we went through the drive thru. Walking up to the ordering thing doesn't work, but a woman that came out the back door told us to go to the window. I haven't order from a Drive-Thru window in as long as I can remember, if ever! Yay for college late night food runs!

Day Thirty-Nine

We took Exam #1 on Monday. It has been graded. Today in class, we found out that we suck. It was sooo bad in fact that we are going to retake the test. The highest grade was an 82. I had a 75. The average was probably around 45. I was pretty shocked by the whole thing. But I have all weekend to study! Finally a weekend that I'm not leaving campus! I've been gone 3 of the last 4 Saturdays.
In other news, it may be Day Thirty-Nine of the year, but it is also Day One-Hundred with Jacob! He reminded me today at a time when I was not thrilled about life, and it really brightened my day. I like him!

Day Thirty-Eight

There was another basketball game tonight. But sadly, it was not nearly as much fun. Unlike last night when both teams sucked and we just laughed, tonight the other team was good. So when we would foul, reach, travel, double dribble, they got frustrated. Granted, the ref should have called that, but when the score is 22-4 in your favor, don't you think you can give the sucky team a break?
The tiny white spot you can see among the black would be my leg. Sad day. As I dove to reach and keep the ball in bounds, I landed right on my already sore knee. Due to the excessive weight and forward motion of my body, large amounts of friction destroyed the thin polyester garment. I am not playing on Thursday for about 3 different reasons. Work, sportsmanship, and pain.

Day Thirty-Seven

I would like to argue that, contrary to popular belief, basketball is, in fact, a Full Contact Sport. Just a couple examples would be: when Abby jumped for the ball and, while landing, managed to place her chin on the top of my head (a time out was called). The second evidence to support my claim would be the moment when I dove to get the ball, only to be tripped over by two colliding girls. I like like to call it, "our three car pile-up"; this incident ended in laughter and groans.
In other, more exciting news, I did manage to dribble all the way down the court and make a shot for 2 points. The game ended 6-14, G3. That was the most fun I have ever had playing Basketball!

Day Thirty-Six

That Mystery Bus didn't get back until 2am last night. That is now 3 times in a week that I haven't gotten back from Dallas until 2am! No wonder I am so tired. But Rock climbing and a movie with dinner was fun.
Weird looking contraption eh? It's a LEGO NXT Robot. Some of the freshman on my floor are engineers. They are taking a class that I once took, Fundamentals of Engineering Design, lovingly referred to as Legos. I was not creative like them. My robot did the cupid shuffle to music. Their robot is far superior. It can play "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with you! I wish I was as creative and smart as them.
