Day One-Hundred and Twelve

Personally, I believe that every individual should know the basics about cars. If you are able to drive a car, you should know how to:
  1. Fill up with the correct type of fuel
  2. Change a tire
  3. Give a jump
  4. Change the battery
  5. Check fluids (oil, washer, etc.)
  6. Change the oil
I fill up my truck with gas often. I have changed a tire on a trailer. I gave my dad a jump once. I know how to change a battery. I checked the oil today after changing it.
Opening the oil pan plug took a lot of strength. Obviously it was messy, but I didn't drop the screw into the oil. Next came the filter. Ford is notorious for bad placement of oil filters. Suffice it to say, that was horrible. We had to go buy an oil filter wrench and then I could only rotate it about 5 degrees before I had to readjust it because there was so little room. When it came off, the oil that spilled out got all over the place because the axle is directly beneath it. Opened up the top and let it drain a while. On went the new filter, back in went the plug; all tight and ready to go! I poured in 6 quarts of oil and my truck was happy. I like working on cars, even if it's dirty!

PS. If you don't understand what I am talking about or can't imagine the process in your head, talk to a MAN and tell him you want to learn how to change oil. It's not a necessary skill, but it is still a good one to have.

PPS. I had an awesome time tonight hanging out with CC and friends. Group games are so much fun!

  1. You did not mention that I was the MAN who provided the strength to loosen the oil pan screw so you could get it out, but that is okay. I was happy to help and teach. I love you. {:O)
