In response to my former post, I would like to acknowledge that during an interview Michael Phelps informed reporters that when he threw his goggles into the water it was not in a fit of rage because of his time. The truth was, the moment his head entered the water at the beginning of the race, his goggles filled up with water and he was forced to swim "blind".
While my assumptions as to the reason for his actions were wrong it did make for an interesting topic for my post.
