Such soft hands I have; but not for long! My friend Lesley is going to teach me how to play the guitar. The first step requires you to play enough to callous your finger tips. It really hurts to push my finger against that tiny, sharp string. I have always liked music and wanted to learn how to play an instrument but I've never been motivated enough. Compared to the piano, my favorite, a guitar seems most practical for me to learn. I think there are plenty of people on campus that can teach me more when I go back this fall.
We started out today by tuning the guitar, it was very out of tune! Actually, the first thing we did was cut my nails. I was bummed because I had grown them out and they looked nice. Anyways, we looked at a chord chart and worked on finger placement. In case you don't know, I have very small hands and stretching my fingers out to get a C chord is not easy. I am hoping that if I play enough, my fingers will loosen up and reach more easily. You can play "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" with just 2 chords, D and A. So I have been trying to play that, but it's hard to transition. She said that once my fingers callous it will be easier. I hope so because right now my fingers are just super sore!
