Day Two-Hundred and Twelve

Children know nothing except: "I'm hungry," "I'm tired," "I'm hurting," and "I'm not happy." You have to teach them things. They have to learn how to use their fingers for instance. Training those muscles takes effort and they must practice often to gain fine motor skills. As I was sitting with Kevin today while his mom lead the Bilingual Storytime, he tried to pick up a circle that had been hole-punched. After struggling with it for a while, he decided to crawl over my leg instead of reaching. Since he is only 10-months and doesn't have excellent balance, I put my hand in front of him to catch his head. I knew he would fall and placed my hand directly in front of his head. He moved to the left, away from my hand. The thud made my heart sink and the scream broke my heart. I tried to protect him and now he has a bump and carpet burn.... The worst was telling his mom what had happened.

BABYSITTING FAIL!
