Day Two-Hundred and Sixty-Nine

The phrase, "Sacrifice the body" has been a very common part of our floor's intramural history. I took that saying to heart tonight. Our lovely Zig-Zag (Lynnette) was not able to play, so I filled in as the goalie for most of the game. I made a few saves and missed 3.

When the ball is kicked out the back by the defending team, the opposing team gets a "corner kick." Kimi kicked the ball right to me. With arms held high, I caught the ball. It was very forceful though and continued it's downward descent and hit my chin with a decent amount of force. I was disoriented by it and wanted a timeout. Apparently there are no timeouts in soccer.  Angrily, I threw the ball out of bounds because I was going to stop that game somehow, I was in pain. I heard people yelling, "take a knee," and then I realized that was how I was supposed to stop the game. After catching my breath and drinking some water, I was back in the goal and ready to defend. From the sidelines, it was apparently pretty funny to watch me throw the ball out of bounds. My face made an intense expression they told me.

They are just lucky I didn't start a hockey game...
