My friend Rebecca has always been a talented singer. When I moved to town in 5th grade, I remember standing next to her in choir and church. She sang much better than myself, granted both of her parents sing and apparently musical talents tend to be genetic. As we aged, her voice improved and I always felt insecure about my voice standing beside her. She did several "special songs" on Sunday mornings and was in the worship team on Wednesday nights. It made sense when we went off to college that she would major in vocal performance and the like. I haven't had many opportunities to hear her sing much since then though.
Before heading back to SMU, she held a recital tonight. My mom and I went and heard the most beautiful soprano voice sing some very lovely arias. I can't remember ever hearing live opera so this was quite an experience. She has really blossomed in the last two years and I am very proud of her!
